Vegemite and Cheese Pinwheels {Oven or Air Fryer}
These Vegemite and Cheese Pinwheels are such an easy snack or lunchbox treat. Made with frozen puff pastry sheets, they could not be quicker to prepare in the oven or the air fryer. A favourite of kids and adults alike. It might be just a snack, but it’s surprisingly filling and satisfying.

Vegemite and cheese are a match made in heaven, and these Vegemite and Cheese Pinwheels certainly hit the spot as a lunchbox treat or an afternoon snack.
All you need is 3 ingredients - frozen puff pastry, Vegemite and cheese, and you can create this in less than 30 minutes. I find they are perfect for when supplies are low as I always have the ingredients on hand.
You can make these cheesymite puff pastry scrolls in either the oven or the air fryer, and you can freeze them for later if you want to make a big batch.

INGREDIENTS FOR VEGEMITE AND CHEESE PINWHEELS

Here's what you'll need to make these vegemite puff pastry scrolls (measurements in the full recipe at the bottom of this page).
Frozen Puff Pastry
- Vegemite
- Cheese - I use tasty or colby.
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 180C / 350F, and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Spread Vegemite over the puff pastry sheet, then sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

Roll the pastry up tightly to form a log shape, then slice into 8 even pieces.

Place these slices on the prepared baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the pastry is golden and flaky.

Alternatively you can cook these pinwheels in the air fryer. Place the pinwheels in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space in between each one, and cook on 180C / 350F for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the pastry is golden and flaky.

TOP TIPS FOR VEGEMITE AND CHEESE PINWHEELS RECIPE
- If you keep your Vegemite in the fridge, bring it to room temperature before spreading. This will ensure it spreads easier.
- Roll it up as tightly as possible and try to cut it into 8 even parts. This is easier to do if you cut the roll in half first, then half again, and again.
- I'm not the Vegemite police, so if you're a promite or marmite fan, yes you can use that instead.
- Store pinwheels in an airtight container at room temperature for a day, or in the freezer for a few months.
