It’s been quite a while since I started experimenting with air fryer recipes. From chicken, beef, fish, potatoes, bread… hmm, I think I’ve thrown pretty much everything into the air fryer at this point 😂. Based on my experience trying these easy air fryer chicken recipes, cooking with an air fryer doesn’t just use less oil—it’s also super easy and quick, like done in no time kinda vibe. So it really saves time, and the results are always delicious too.

I also get asked a lot, “Is switching to an air fryer actually worth it?”

Well, let me clarify first—I still cook using the oven, I still deep fry (hehe), I still bake… so it’s definitely not just air fryer all the time.

Is Air Fryer Worth It?

Is it really that expensive? Well, air fryers come in all kinds of models and price ranges, so you can choose one that fits your needs. I’m not an expert when it comes to breaking down which one is the best or all the pros and cons...you can read this article for that. But if you compare it to the non-monetary benefits you get, it’s totally worth it. I’ll explain more in the next points.

  • Cooking time is much shorter, mainly because air fryers are designed with a small cooking chamber and require minimal preheating.
  • Uses less oil. While there’s still some debate about whether air frying is truly “healthier,” at the very least you’re clearly cutting down on oil, which means less fat overall.
  • The cooking process is simpler and requires fewer tools. Cleanup is quicker too. Going back to the first point, you’ll generally spend less time in the kitchen overall. Fewer dishes, less mess.
  • Surprisingly...at least in my experience (you can check out my other air fryer recipe posts), the results are actually really tasty! You still get that crispy texture. It’s funny how we often complain, “Why is it that healthier food always tastes worse?” *lol*.

But I do believe that anything in excess isn’t a good thing. It’s important not to put anything on a pedestal. Air fryers have their benefits, sure—but they’re not always perfect or 100% positive all the time.

And I don’t really want to get too caught up in the whole debate of which one’s better—microwave or air fryer. They both have their own pros and cons anyway. Let’s just save that discussion for the FAQ section, yeah? Scroll down!

Why Use an Air Fryer for Chicken?

Aside from everything I mentioned earlier, my main reason for using an air fryer is to keep things healthier and simpler. And with chicken, you’ve got so much flexibility—it works with all kinds of seasonings and flavors.

One thing that really convinced me to keep using the air fryer was when I tried making chicken drumsticks. They turned out juicy on the inside with that crispy coating on the outside...soooo good!

There was even this one time I had to suddenly head over to Bella’s place (yep, my favorite cousin—how many times have I mentioned her already? 😂). She insisted I bring some chicken, so I quickly made this easy air fryer recipe. And seriously, in less than 30 minutes, it was all done! Tender on the inside, crispy on the outside. Perfect!

Tips for Perfect Easy Air Fryer Chicken Recipes

  • Even if you’re in a hurry, don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. You want the hot air to circulate evenly around each piece of chicken.
  • Try to keep your chicken pieces similar in size. Simple logic—this helps them cook evenly.
  • Still use a bit of oil, but keep it minimal. It helps the outside turn nicely golden and more appetizing, instead of looking too plain (even if it still tastes good!).
  • Flip the chicken halfway through cooking. Again, this helps everything cook evenly.
  • Don’t rely too strictly on cooking time. It really depends on the size of your chicken and the cut you’re using. Chicken breast and thighs need slightly different treatment—personally, I find thighs work better with a slightly higher temperature for the best texture.

Flavour Variation Ideas

When it comes to seasoning sauce, it really depends on your personal taste. But I do have a few go-to options that I’ve tried and shared on this blog—so no worries, they’ve been tested in my kitchen:

  • Garlic Parmesan Sauce – This is one of the popular recipes on the blog, and it pairs really well with all kinds of chicken dishes.
  • Sriracha Sauce – I’ve actually made two versions. If you like it spicy, go check out the Sriracha Mayonnaise. If you want something spicy with a garlicky kick, try the Sriracha Aioli.
  • Garlic Yogurt Sauce – Perfect if you’re after something fresher. The tanginess of the yogurt combined with lemon and that signature garlic flavor just works so well.

What to Serve With These Easy Air Fryer Chicken Recipes

When it comes to side dishes, it really depends on your personal preference. But the safest options are usually some kind of carbs or veggies—think rice, potatoes, or a simple salad:

  • Roasted Potatoes with Carrots – You get both your carbs and veggies in one dish. Super practical! You can also check out other potato side dish ideas on the blog.
