Oreo Cheesecake Balls are a delicious and decadent treat that's super quick and easy to make.  All you need is 3 ingredients - oreos, cream cheese and chocolate.  Oreo Truffles are great to bring to parties or perfect gifts around the holidays.  Or just keep the oreo balls all to yourself - I won't judge!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  It's officially less than a month until Christmas so it's completely acceptable to bring out the Christmas recipes and I'm kicking it off with these Oreo Cheesecake Balls.

Oreo balls, or oreo truffles as they are also known, have been around for years but I still find people who are yet to try them.  And boy are you in for a treat if you haven't!

Crushed oreos are mixed with cream cheese, then dipped in chocolate to make little chocolate truffles.  One bite of these no-bake balls and you'll be hooked.

They make great holiday gifts although full disclosure - I'm not usually an edible Christmas gift-giver.  I put it down to my profession, but after cooking countless numbers of recipes all year the last thing I want to do is spend more time in the kitchen cooking gifts.

But these no bake oreo balls... THESE I can do.  They are so easy it's silly.  Plus putting them together is a bit of messy fun which can sometimes be therapeutic granted you aren't a clean freak.  Something I've certainly never been accused of!

Of course you don't have to make them for gifts.  They're great for a light dessert for parties or just keep them all to yourself.  That's what I would do (I type while stuffing my face with my fourth oreo ball of the day).

Why you'll love this recipe...

  • Quick and Easy.
  • Decadent treat.
  • Great for parties or holiday gifts.

How do you Crush Oreos for Oreo Balls

I like to throw the oreos in a food processor and blitz until they resemble a fine cookie crumb BUT if you don't have a food processor don't worry.  Just throw your oreos in a zip-lock bag and crush with a rolling pin.  Simple!

Break chocolate up into chunks and place in a microwave-safe bowl.  Microwave in short bursts of 20 seconds, stirring after each burst, until completely melted.

Use a fork to dip each oreo ball into the chocolate, allowing the excess chocolate to run off before placing back onto the baking tray.  Repeat until all the balls are covered in chocolate, then sprinkle over your choice of toppings.

Place the tray back into the fridge to let the balls set (approx. 1 hour), then serve or move to an airtight container.

Should Oreo Balls Be Refrigerated?

Absolutely!  Keep your oreo balls in an airtight container in the fridge to store.  They will keep for a few weeks, but there is no way they will last that long.

Tips for making Oreo Cheesecake Balls

  • I used one and a half packs of single sleeve Oreo's for this recipe.
  • I used two types of chocolate to coat the balls in these photos - milk and white.  Feel free to do the same, or just use one.  Either works.
  • Try to let as much excess chocolate run off the ball before placing on the baking tray.
  • Top your balls with whatever you'd like.  I used some extra oreo crumbs, sprinkles and desiccated / finely shredded coconut.
  • Feel free to double or triple the recipe.
